| We're
back in the groove again as of February, 2001. We will be playing at The
Gypsy Lounge, in Lake Forest and will be the first live show since
Angela joined us. We can't wait to play for our fans again, we know it
will be a lot of fun!
We were at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show during the weekend of January 20th, 2001 at the Anaheim Convention Center. We gave out our new demo CD and mingled with musicians such as Peter Frampton and one of the members of the Misfits. Despite Angie (an avid Pop Rox fan) being in a wheelchair from foot surgery and not being able to dance, she got the attention of more than a few celebrities and distributed our CD. The weekend was full of surprises and as expected -- it was a lot of fun! We still can't believe that Angie bitched out Peter Frampton and made him take the CD!! Great job Ange! Pop Rox finished its second demo CD "The Buzz" on January 15th, 2001. It features Angela on vocals with three previously unreleased songs "Glue," "Waiting" and "Too Young." The outcome was much better than anyone expected, and the mix is the best (by all of our accounts) that Jonas has ever done. To hear a preview of the songs on-line, and experience the work that went into them, check out the link 'Hear the Tunes' on our menu! Where have we been since September, 2000? What have we been doing and what about the new CD? Well, we've been busy rehearsing with our new singer Angela Grant. We've been finishing the material for a full-length CD to be released later this year, and recording three songs for a demo titled "The Buzz." We've heard your requests and will be playing live again shortly! Bookmark the 'Show Dates' page. We'll be playing the club scene very soon! Big Bear, on the weekend of April 9th, 2000, was a lot of fun for all of us! The van, full of all the band gear, got stuck in the forest Friday night during a camping excursion! Then Saturday was spent in a 5 bedroom cabin shared with some of the members of Jaded and LOTS of friends. Skiing was a little slushy, but some of us did it anyway. Peter signed up for the Bear Mountain dating game and lost. Everyone was sunburned, but the show went very well and was lots of fun! We started recording in the studio as well and laid down some great tracks for the new CD! Pop Rox is preparing to go back into the studio in late March, 2000 to record the rest of the songs for a full-length CD demo release. Possibly even a music video might make it to the CD! Stay tuned for CD release dates. We should have some new recordings soon! The Galaxy Theatre concert show in January, 2000 with Jaded and Buzzbox was an overwhelming success thanks to the help of all our supporting fans! Thank you all! OC Weekly's review from that night named the article after one of our songs! It was a funny article that put us into the league of popular radio and MTV material as well as having Beatles-like individuality. Pop Rox's first radio debut was heard accross LA and OC December 26, 2000, on KLOS's 'Local Licks show!' Two of the songs on the current demo CD were played! "Pop Rox is the next big thing to come out of Orange County," the D.J. said! As of October, 2000 we lost our drummer Chris, and things were disarray. We auditioned many drummers unsuccessfully. In a stressfull situation with a show only a week away, we asked our friend Dave to help out and play this one show with us. Things went fantastic. The show was a complete success and we found our new drummer in the process. Dave is a phenomenal drummer and we want to continue to play our music with him. We apologize some of the pictures haven't made it to the website yet, we are working on redesigning the site. More will be posted here soon. |
